I was browsing eBay and Amazon and I
was thinking about my experience with both sites. I used to sell items on eBay.
I used to sell boots, clothing, bags and DVDs. It was decent business until all the Chinese factories
and wholesalers started to sell directly and made competition tougher. However,
I finally stop selling items on eBay few years ago after I was getting
nickel-and-dimed to death with eBay and PayPal (a subsidiary of eBay). I will
still try to buy items from eBay if I don't mind the time or don't need the
item right away, then I just bid on eBay auction and wait for the easy cherry
picking. However, when I want something, then I just go to Amazon and order it.
These days, I found Amazon more
reliable and efficient compare to eBay. I have a feeling that I am at a garage
sale when I visit eBay site vs. I am at a department store when I visit Amazon
site. Both will get my time and money but I think Amazon is definitely headed
right directly. Also, Amazon's kindle shows that it can tap into a customer
electronic market successfully. Similarly, eBay has a PayPal to add to its
bottom line but, again, I felt that I was being double charged by eBay/PayPal
when I sell on eBay. So the winner is definitely Amazon.
