CMN (Congenital Melanocytic Nevus) is a type of mole found
in infants. This birthmark affects about 1 in 20,000 babies. CMN is usually not
so big but, for 6 year old boy, Didier Montalvo, his CMN covered his entire
back. Didier and his family live in rural Colombia in South America, but they
are shunned by villagers due to Didier’s huge growth on his back. Didier was not able to attend school or be baptised.
Great news is that a plastic surgeon, Neil Bulstrode, from Great Ormond Street Hospital in London
went to Colombia to help remove the mole. Didier and his familiar were able to
afford the operation after they received donations thru a local newspaper. I hope the best for Didier now that he is free from his turtle shell-like mole.
